I have just purchased my first DSLR (Canon EOS 400D) and am eager to learn to produce interesting shots from sometimes uninteresting or generic scenes and exploit my new cameras abilities, including the use of filters. \ \ The first 6 or so shots have been taken with my old point-and-click Sony P200 and the latest (hopefully you can see the difference!) have been taken with the Canon. None have been heavily adjusted but some have had slight contrast amends or spot/ artifact removal using Photoshop, so they all are pretty faithful to the original shots.\ \ I would love to hear your comments.

Hey Diana, nice to hear from you! The photo is taken with an infrared filter which is almost opaque and needs to be used on hot, sunny days as the image is only exposed from invisible infrared light (if you didn't already know). This usually results is really long exposures, but produces a unique look to the image. A clear sky usually ends up black as very little IR light get reflected, and plants & trees reflect IR light really well which turns them white. I am pretty new to this technique - there are some incredible IR shots out there (have a look on Flickr) which I am aspiring to. Thanks for your interest & I'm glad you like my picture!
Kindest regards,
Barney.

Hope they soon tear down the fence and give us back Beaocn Hill. I'd rather kids got their thrills there than on Main Road.
