R0bL's conversations

Hi The geo-tagged location is where I took the shot from. Since I took the shot the pine forest has grown up so they are no longer really visible from the sand road. To visit them you need to park around where I took the shot from then walk east over to the border of the pine forest and the native forest. There is a fire trail (No 4x4s allowed :( ) you can walk along to get there. This is a closer photo of them and shows the exact location: http://goo.gl/maps/Sbj5a As for the history of it I have been unsuccessful at finding it. I first stumbled across the sand mining gear in about 1989 and it had been there a long time then. From the look of the gear I suspect it was a similar time as to when the original plantation was put in. They used to fly staff over from the mainland in DC3's to a gravel airstrip here: http://goo.gl/maps/0fHW8 (Again offlimits these days :( ) as there was no bridge then. My family were solider-settlers at Beerburrum and were living in the area at the time.

I never drive past "no access" signs and I never drive off the track and I never driver around locked gates.

Have you thought about getting out of the car! :)

A sign announcing the future power station site was on this spot since I first visited in early 1985. I guess the power station builders will be able to say "but we warned you !"

A recently install gate on the road to Dianna's Bath. It is terribly sad that access to such a beautiful spot as Dianna's bath is now off limits to the public.
