In the name of ALLAH(SWT), the most Gracious, the most Merciful. The 'Thamuds' were powerful people of their own time. Look at those structures what they had built in the mountains. Even today we can't think of building such mega structures despite the technology we have today. These people were eliminated cause they didnt follow the divine guidance. Tomorrow nobody will recall those Great nations as we see them today. Where did go all those twin towers or 'Burjs', nobody would know. The lesson we should learn is to follow the commandments of Allah(SWT) who is the Creator of all of us, Who know how should we live our lives. Muhammad(SAW) was their to tell us how that 'True' path could be followed. May Allah(SWT) give all of us the courage to accept the Divine Truth i.e Qur'aan. Aameen. Babar

Iam Jordanian tour guide. this picture was taken from near qattar spring. the squired (walled)area on the left handside of the jeep inthe middle of the photo is roman time cemetry. the big mountain on right handside is called ALKHAZALI mount.
One of the fine rock art panels that can be found in the narrow siq (canyon) of Jebel Khaz Ali. Most of the carvings are of pairs of feet, ibex, and human figures with raised hands. They most likely date to the Bronze Age.
Incredible, nearly life-size human figures carved into a cliff face near Wadi Rum. They are difficult to date but likely were carved 3-4 thousand years ago. Similar (though much smaller) figures are known from the often visited site of Jebel Khaz Ali.
The Zuweidah Camp just off the Diseh road. The camp has expanded greatly since this picture was taken in late 2004. The camp is run by Harb and Motlak, members of the local Zuweidah tribe who know Wadi Rum and the Diseh area very well.
The view from Jebel Umm Adami, the highest mountain in Jordan. The summit provides nice views into the Hisma of Saudi Arabia. This view actually looks back to northeast.
The northern Hisma desert in March. This picture was taken nearly three weeks after a major rain storm which caused these little green desert shrubs to spring out everywhere along the desert floor.

A great view of the Deir monument at Petra.
One of the more impressive (and easily accessible) natural rock arches to be found in the Rum area.
