Rocinha, one of the most populated favelas in the world. For Tourists, after living there for 5 years, I would strongly advise you not to visit Rocinha. Most maps have a skull and crossbones over Rocinha. I have ventured into Rocinha 3 times and each time was very risky, and I was going to visit friends who lived there and I speak Portuguese quite fluently. There are no police in Rocinha on a regular basis, and gangs rule the area.
