It is in St. Boniface, yes. According to my uncle, who passed away in 2012, Mr. Maclean is also related to my great grandmother.

The old reduction tanks; in there went all the heads, tails and other leftovers from the salmon canning process. It was heated and the oil rose to the top to be skimmes off and used as a fine lubricant. The residue would be used as high quality fertilizer. Damned smelly place to be too.
