This picture has taken in late June 2004 during Topcu Baba (Father Topcu) Day in the village of Topcular near Turco-Bulgarian Border. The village is inhabited by the Alevis, who are known with their tolerated approach to Islam. Despite Sunnis, Women and Men pray & dance together in Alevis and they pay greater attention to education. During the celebrations everybody brings the food they can effort (some sacrifice a sheep, some can only bring onion and bread)and at the end 1000s share the food they gather. They remember the thoughts of Caliphate Ali & Father Topcu, pray, sing, dance, share their own thoughts, read poems and finally leave till the next year's gathering. During the Ottoman march into Balkans, starting from mid 14th century, Alevis were the first Turks settled in those newly conquered lands. They were so tolerated and open minded, helped local ethnic groups to accept Ottaman rule easily and some of them had chosen Alevi faith of Islam as their new religion.
