Getting to the trailhead: From Cañon City, drive east for approximately 5 miles on U.S. 50 to the Florence turnoff on Colorado 67. Drive south to the town of Florence (4 miles) and continue on Colorado 67 south through the town. Measuring from the junction where Colorado 67 and Colorado 115 diverge, drive south on Colorado 67 to a junction with County Road 15 at mile 4.4. Turn right onto County Road 15 and drive southwest, following signs to Newlin Creek and Florence Mountain Park. Reach the trailhead at mile 10.8, at the terminus of County Road 15. All but the last 0.2 mile is on good roads.

Williams Canyon. First you must sign a waiver at Cave of the Winds, no charge. Part of the hike is on their property. Walk north up Canon Ave or Cave Ave. until the road ends and the trail starts, you'll pass under a old exit sign for the Cave of the Winds attraction. Look up on the sides of the canyon, there are many caves. If you follow the trail past the road switchback leading to Cave of the Winds you will eventuall, about a mile end up at a waterfall and pools, best in late spring. The hike is much more pleasant/safer now that the shooting range on Rampart is not operational. Dogs friendly area but LOTS of stickers for their fur.

Skiprof is right. It's Patrol HQ, but it's also at the top of the Back Side lift, not the front side lift. I can tell whose ski poles and skis you're looking at if you want verification.
