Everyone knows this building as "16’s (street) Church". The building is incomplete, it roof never was finished. Children in the surounding neigborhood use to play in the lawn around the building and uses to climb the gothic structure up to the bell tower, something very dangerous indeed. The back yard is full of mango trees, for this reason the back yard is frequently "assaulted" by children looking for the sweet fruit. When I was child this back yard was guarded by 3 ferocious dogs, a German shepherd and two Dobermans. We had to improve strategies to avoid the dogs in order to get the fruits, a couple of children went to the front side (the one in the picture) and walked to the front fence to catch the attention of the dogs while the rest of us awaited until the dogs was busy with the divert strategy to jump over the back fence and grab quickly some fruits before the dogs noted our presence inside their dominion. The building has a keeper; this keeper often frustrated our assaults to the back yard treasure.
At night this building and its lawn is a very dark place and is used for young couples to make love.
The Building belongs to the Catholic Church and it is used sometimes to held special events. This institution built another building beside this one where messes going on regularly.
It brings me sweets memories of my childhood and teens years.

hola señor. me disculpo por contestar hasta ahora. no vivo en cuba, vivo en bogotá colombia pero trato de ir todos los años casi siempre en diciembre porque despues de un año la nostalgia me come si no voy a mi habana.
hola. gracias por el comentario. si esta foto esta tomada en 2007 desde la esquina de O y 27 mirando hacia 23. donde esta un edificio que tiene unos aptos muy buenos con balcones muy grandes. (donde esta la mujer y la niña)
Oye que bien mi hermano... que alegria me dio cuando vi el Edifico Giron, la verdad que todavia no entiendo porque este Edifico con lo horrorosa que esta (en el sentido de que esta muy destruido) llama tanto la atencion de los turistas que vienen a Cuba. Yo para decirte, vivo frente por frente al Giron... vamos, que en cuanto pueda pongo alguna foto del Giron y mi Edificio... jajajaja... chevere la foto...
