Wow I attended a midnight US GI party here in 1973. We got there a little late, there was a fire in the church and music wafting across the water. But we stole a paddle boat and went to the church to party, at least for an hour or more. We were all loaded on LSD. Every one on the island got busted that night but I and the buddy I came with decided to go back to the car to smoke some hash so we grabbed the first paddle boat we came to and left it on the steps at the rear and we were sitting there in my 63 Ford Galaxy, haddent yet toked up when the polizie arrived in force. They aked us what were were doing because they had no idea what was going on. (must have been fifty guys out there) I said we heard there was a party around here somewhere but that we had just arrived.
They bought that story and told us to leave immediatly. I complied as fast as possible LOL
I feel bad about breaking the chain loop on the front of the boat we stole but it was a hilarious time. A fond memory of youth. I was an SP/4 from Ludendorff.
