Thanks very much for the compliment Hank ,as I said before unfortunately it was blowing to hard to get some really good pics and to make it into the Slot Canyons, maybe next time.

take care ---Jb

No bother at all, John. Talking about it is reliving it, and that's fun.

I'd leave Hoover Dam for one of your trips when you're flying home out of Las Vegas. It's too far from everything else. The North Rim is wonderful, but it's closed until May (I think), and if you're up there you'd want to include Bryce, Zion and a host of the wonderful national and state parks in that area.

Depending on the amount of free time you’ll have, Page Arizona is a good, central location. A short distance, southeast of town you’ve got the Antelope (Slot) Canyons. They send groups from the tourist information office downtown Page which I only mention because the actual entrance was hard to find when I finally found it (I had been searching for them for years). I only posted four pictures, and I often think of doing some more because they’re so gorgeous. If you go, try to be there around noon for the sun coming straight down through the rocks.

Also within a stone’s throw (south) is the recognizable **Horseshoe Bend. Both the slot canyons and Horseshoe Bend are short fraction-of-a-day excursions.

Wahweap Marina is the nearest access to Lake Powell. The other tourist friendly marina is Bullfrog way to the East, but where ever you get to Lake Powell, the views are magnificent. We took a small boat to Rainbow Bridge which is only accessible by water. In case you want to do multiple days on the lake, there is lodging at the marina.

WARNING: Dress for all weather. We were there around Easter one year and had to buy warm clothes having completely mis-read the climate. It’s easier to take layers off than put them on.

I would not trade the Page-Lake Powell area for the Painted Desert and Petrified Forest, however I would include both of those places if I was going to visit Canyon de Chelly or Monument Valley. Lots of choices; lots of things to see.

Good luck. Let me know if I can help further.

Hank
