The town Jastrebarsko, sometimes also called Jaska, lies some 30 km southwest of Zagreb, on the slopes of Plešivica, at 154 m above sea level. Some 5400 inhabitants live in the town. It stretches along Zagreb – Karlovac highway, regional road and railway line. The main occupations are land cultivation, wine growing and wine selling, fisheries, wood processing and last but not least tourism. Jastrebarsko and its environs are a famous excursion destination and the attractions are beautiful landscapes, nature reserves, cultural and historic monuments, famous wines of the region and food.
