I had a heart attack at age 54 and retired 9 monthes later and hiked thruout the SW US the next 8 years. These are the pictures of where my hiking took me. The first 5 years most of my hiking was solo. Then I met a gentleman who was doing the same thing and we hiked together most of the time for the next 3 years. The timeframe was 1993 to 2001.

Do you remember if this was exactly at 36° 16' 1.61" N 108° 13' 10.03" W or was that just a guess? I'm looking to go here this fall and I really want to see this formation!

Elliot, I've forgotten which Panoramio name you can use these days. We'd email chatted a bit ago regarding this area. (I was dshorb at the time). Google's method, makes it so I can't access that account these days. I'd like to chat about this area. So, if you get a chance, can you email me at southwestbackcountry@gmail.com. I'm thinking about skiing the CDT through here (Cumbres to Wolf Creek Pass). Thanks.

sweet photo by the way

iin my opinion it is best to hike such locations... let the explorers find it but not broadcast it.

Of course you've been here too.

I was looking at your pictures through the old burn and Big Sandy Lake. Were you able to hike through this section? If so, what year? Love your pictures. Thanks for your insights.

Ah alright. Great picture though!

I went to Hidden Lake last summer. I want to go again, and so these pictures of random ponds/places nearby are helpful!

That is a picture of the dragon's head looking down the canyon to the river

There's a lot of sky in your photos. And shadows.
