Spectacular view! Pea Soup Lake is perfectly situated in its (rather large) bowl at the foot of Mt. Daniel. Very interesting history in the comments as well.
I agree on the wonderful colors. I am amazed all the time by these types of lakes. It is really captures my attention even if I have seen a certain lake many times.
What a fabulous scene and shot, Randy! I've seen similar hanging tarns in New Zealand, but this one looks truly special.
Good thing you didn't get out on the rock when it gets cold. You can't feel your fingers or if you are holding on when it gets chilly. I usually don't do rock in Washington State until April. Californian, Colorado I will make exceptions, especially if it is sunny or you can stay warm on the south side.
It looks like you have gone to some very nice places. Happy mountains and adventures and feel free to email me if you have any questions. I don't always get back quickly, but I do get back. Also Happy new year!
hi Randy, thanks for visiting:) wish you and your family also a great new year! a beautiful winterphoto! like it alot
Turns out this place is really a short distance from Seattle. Some of the peaks in this area are popular just because they are the local highest or for some other reason. Other wonderful peaks in this area are remote or technical alpine and are climbed ~once a year according to the summit registers.
This was my 3rd time on this peak and I did not see a soul for 2 days. Not bad for being near the city!
