David Goddard's conversations

welcome to the islands, maan!

One of the calmer days at Henley Royal Regatta perhaps?

Is that 'warning signs' on the centre tree, David, or is it padding in case you hit the tree?

The building is commonly known as the Gherkin, but I think it is closer in shape to sweet sorghum now you mention it.

Hi David, and thanks for your reply - I'd assumed that the ship was the West Australian built replica, and did notice the name on the bow. But I'd assumed that it had been added for the purpose of that visit to Whitby.

Changing the name of a vessel is often considered to be bad luck, like launching on certain days, but if you simply use some easy to remove method, I'd say that it should not be too bad should it...

Was it a good size crowd one the day the photo was taken? Sure looks like it!

This vessel could not have bee to long, as the origional ship was only 104' in lenght so if ihis is half sized it could only be 50 feet or so in length. Like shrunk in the wash style :-) Cheers from Christchurch, NZ.

While the Baltic often freezes, far less frequently do conditions occur that cause ice to pile up on the beach at Jūrmala. This photograph was taken when that happened in 2003.
