i grew up near the end of a rural road in the forest in humboldt county. i've always liked hiking, sunsets and exploring the outdoors in general, so when i got a camera photography fit pretty seamlessly into my life. I've since become a total photography addict. I can get out the car planning to wander around for a few and take some pics only to lose myself in it enough to hike for hours, often doing the entire return to the car in the dark. I'm still coming to fully understand getting a great exposure, but tend not to have a problem finding beautiful scenery, as most of the places i've lived have been surrounded by it. most of my photographs are expansive shots that capture natural scenes uninterrupted by man-made structures because i find great romance in wild untamed nature and exploration. i've lived in northern california my whole life. nearly all of these photographs were taken somewhere in coastal california from santa cruz on up, with a few ranging as far east as the sierra nevadas.

the trail down to it starts in the big gravel turnout across from tan oak park... you can get to both sides of the tunnel too. i'm pretty sure it's man made. i'm assuming the creek used to run around this rock, but was redirected when the highway was built...
