I have been trying to find out the history of this statue myself... I asked local Historian, Fr Anthony de Verteuil about it and also sent him my photos but he said he did not know of it... I did find mention in an old book of a fishing village that once existed there a very long time ago (accessible by sea) perhaps these fisher-folk brought the statue there?... as St Peter is the patron saint of fishermen.
