I slept only a 20-30 feet from this old shack on a bicycle trip I took in 2001. I'll never forget Antelope... the last leading into town, coming from the East, broke both myself and Tim, my best-friend who I was riding with.
I've never had an emotional collapse like that day since... the heat... the loneliness of the desert... the endless switch-back mountain-roads... something about it all. We both had a nervous breakdowns on the same hill leading into Antelope.
We pulled ourselves together... made it into town as the sun was setting, had an amazing dinner at a Mom & Pop cafe and slept in the yard here.
Seeing this photo brings back a lot of emotions for me. Thanks for posting it.
