I'm a retired Industrial Photographer who really enjoys tent camping in the great southwestern deserts with my wife. We have three vehicles and we keep the 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee loaded 24/7 so we can go camping on a moments notice. We usually go camping every weekend or when ever we can. We are defined by our camping and we take as much as we can so we can enjoy camping. We also have a 17' tandem kayak in which we enjoy flat-water kayaking during warmer months. I possess two camera systems a Canon and a Nikon. Between these two systems I have seven different camera bodies and 10 or so lenses. Sometime I like Canon and sometimes I like Nikon.

Dude! Why the fuck would you take a picture of a toilet?

Looks like the winch used to haul ore and miners in and out of the mine shaft. It is up the hill and direcly behind the hammer mill. I saw a link that called this a "water pump"

tbchev71,

As a previous traveler on Old Route 66, I would say that it is a recent picture..this year or last. On a historical note, it was used for a movie setting featuring Henry Fonda; I don't remember the film, but he was driving a truck and stopped at the diner. On a personal note. I loved driving that road from Twenty Nine Palms, heading to the Colorado River, hardly any traffic...very desolate, beautiful desert setting. I believe since getting the noriety of Route 66 hype, it has become more traveled.
