Coast Guard Channel used to cut across the Point at Emerald Isle. Movement of sand in recent years has cut the channel off.

Looking east toward vehicle ramp approximately 1400 ft away. Lots of sand that doesn't show on most maps.

I am standing in the water at the most western part of the beach at the Point. Bogue Inlet is to the left of my location as is Bear Island which you cannot see in this photo. There is over 1,400 ft of sand between my location and the vehicle ramp at the Point.
