Chers Ruidavid, Beaucoup d'excuses. Cordialement Ian

Many apologies. I hadn’t realised that I had incorrectly spelled the name of the Mas. Instead I had thought that you were disputing the location of the Mas that I had shown on the map. I shall correct the error today.

I've been enjoying your really impressive photographs, but couldn't work out how and why you'd taken photographs of Sheffield - which despite its refurbished buildings and Botanical Gardens, can't compete with, for example, Firenza. But if you'd been a student at Sheffield, I'd have expected more photographs of South Yorkshire and the UK.

I was looking at and enjoying your photographs, when I ran out of photographs to view. Your photographs are popular, as many people have viewed them; so when are we going to see more of them? I particularly liked your photograph of the City Hall, which (like all of your photos) had clearly been taken with some care and attention, producing an impressive result.

Dear Carly, Thanks for your comment. My wife and I lived close to these hills (and reservoirs) near Low Bradfield, in the Peak District, for 30 years. Now we've moved 15 miles south west, to the equally beautiful Edale Valley. Both areas are renowned for their rain! Thus, when I saw the gap in the rain-clouds, with the sunshine highlighting the reservoir and surrounding fields I decided to act quickly and take a hastily composed shot. A friend's farm is in the background - they mainly farm sheep and cattle (I used to graze sheep with my American Quarter Horse, but purely as a hobby). I mention this, as one or two stone walls in the area seem to be particularly vulnerable to cars, as for some reason cars seem to career into the same areas with monotonous frequency. Thus the farmer who owns the wall and land in this photograph has had to place metal sheep hurdles in the gap in the wall as a temporary repair, otherwise there'd have been sheep everywhere. Although the gap in the wall opened up the view for my photograph, I'd have preferred to have taken the photograph in an area where the wall was intact - but I knew that I only had seconds to capture the light in this scene before the clouds filled the sky again. I have viewed the photos you have placed on-line and note that you live in a very different area from the one I’ve depicted here. I suspect that your summers are much warmer and your winters much colder. I'll keep monitoring your photos for spectacular summer or winter scenes.

Kind regards

Ian

Welcome to Panoramio Ian! Quite incredible to think that there are nearly 20,000,000 photos posted now - so it is a privilege to have you visit my photos. The first shot I posted (number 337573 in January 2007) was from Edale too - Panoramio has grown phenomenally since then.

I have never really had the opportunity to get into horse riding but I can imagine that you would be far more able to get close to wildlife: I have to use a long lens to get my shots!

Cheers

William
