You are looking south up Highland Ave. toward Verona Ave. At one time (before mine!) the #27 Publlic Service #27 Mt. Prospect Trolley used this as a turnaround, up Lake Street, and back down Verone Ave. to Mt. Prospect, and and back toward downtown Newark. The NJ Transit #27 bus uses the same turnaround even today.
If you turn around and face the other way, at one time (like the 1960's) there was a lean-to, or something, for passengers to pick up the Montclair-Boonton line to Hoboken at the Highland Avenue Station.
Thank you very much Corey greetings from Hudson, New York.. I could still picture the streamliner steam trains highballing on through here. Those 20th Century Limited enroute North to Chicago or south to NYC.

Thank you so much, my friend TEODOR VIOREL CIOBOTEA!
Thank you very much Alla Saed this stop Breakneck Ridge is sort of strange compared to the other stations this is purely a flag stop, trains only stop here on the weekends for hikers. On the whole Metro-North system they're at least two other stations like this though.
