Hopefully please check out the Friends of the Ice and Iron Rail Trail. This was an old Erie RR line, then NJTransit took over operations over the years, all the way until 2002 when the Montclair Connection opened. When the connection opened no more need for this portion of the line to operate. Transit turned this trackage over to NS, NS used it for about three years there was industry but now the last customer moved to Ohio, Hartz Pet Foods. NS said in 20 years time they see rail traffic will pick up again here, I don't see it, no more industry. Besides one of the bridges since Hurricane Sandy from what I heard isn't safe for rail traffic, unless major bridge work is to be done.

Possible but the support structure resembles a trestle support or like a stairway or walkway like you said. I did up some info of which this could've been the Narrow Gauge Sussex Mine Railroad from the mines of Sussex county to Waterloo Village. Not a lot of info about the narrow gauge mule driven railway. Also this site has some more sugestion of the old Sussex Branch Narrow Gauge. I like your suggestion, too I would really like to get an old photograph of this support structure if it does exist.. Branchville NJ is a town within Frankford limits.

Nice landscape, well captured, LIKE
