Maurice: If you are Facebook, there is a FB group you may enjoy called Chanute AFB Cold Warriors. There are plenty of photos that go back to the early 50s. It has close to 3000 members. A lot of conversations about the old base. The other FB group I mentioned above, Chanute Alumni Association, no longer exists.
I was working in the tower when Pope Paul II landed and gave mass at Finthen ! It was a very cool experience. I will try to locate images that I took that day and send them to you. YES , I did see your images on Picasa - Very nice and thank you for sharing them ! Best wishes to you ,
Is this REALLY Shaftsbury and Earlham -- It was my best guess when I posted this image ... can someone out there confirm where this was ? The dude who was approaching me was fairly angry about my taking his picture... asked for money
