Lucky day high surf and the pier was still open to pedestrians.

Thank you for your comments. This is indeed a very nice trail. My first visit there, but I can understand why so many people are visiting instantly. Not only a good place for exercises, but also for photographs.

Here's a little history for you... this used to be a Hippy commune back in the late 60's, early 70's. My sister and brother both spent some time living on this land. Strange but true.

I love this place. I grew up in these hills and spent most of my free time walking back here with my friends long before it was open space. I was so happy when the land was Purchaced by, I think it was the City of Palo Alto, and protected as open space much to the shagrin of the developers out there.

Back in my day this was called Windmill Meadows. There was an old windmill up here that gave it it's name. Me and my friends used to hike back here and camp under the trees all the time. One of my friends had a big Billy Goat we would pack up with all our camping gear and food to go camping. Back then it was privetly owned so we had be on the lookout for the owners. They were known for chasing people off their land with shotguns loaded with saltrock. Beyond this point by another 2 miles or so was a natural spring that bubbled up from the ground. That was also a favorite destination of ours.
