This is definitely a photo of Shasta Lake. It was taken from the hwy above the Centimudi boat ramp near the dam, with a telephoto lens. This is why Mt Shasta appears so large. Also notice the red soil. Whiskeytown Lake has decomposed granite (white or gray). Wkutrent, I am 100% sure that you are correct.

But this northern place is also the Blue Creek. The reason for the confusion is the fact that the points are both on the old California Shoshoni Corridor which is the old Utah California Trail, or the Salt Lake Cutoff which in fact is twenty miles wide. Historians make lousy geographers.
