This is the river put-in @ Poplar NC. Turn right at the stop sign, few hundred yards, cross the tracks and there you are. The RR bridge from your other photo is just downstream from there. There is a river gauge to the right of the RR crossing sign in the photo and just beyond the blue car there is a small house where we used to store our raft gear. This house used to be the outpost for a rafting company (Carolina Wilderness) that is no longer in business.

This bridge is just downstream from the put-in. There was a train derailment on this bridge in the early to mid 90's. You might have seen some leftover debris(mostly spilled coal) around the trees in the upper right of the photo. Unless of course it was covered by water.
