It was Expo 88 and this was part of the site used for that event. This arbour was built after Expo 88 when the site was returned to the City of Brisbane for redevelopment into the Southbank Parklands.
The river stage was near here if that helps you get orientated :)
Thanks for your visit. I only saw this from a whale-watching ship, but it is a wonderful spot, isn't it? And I saw some of that beautiful aquamarine water, too. Greetings from Canada.
Visited Tangalooma/Moreton Island in 1988. Beautiful resort. The island between Tangalooma and the Pacific coast and lighthouse was recovering from a fire that had destroyed most of the forest. They said this happens from time to time from lightning. Want to go back again one day. It is like a dream.
Wow! The artificial reef they had started building from wrecks has surely built up in the past 20 years. Tangalooma is a beautiful resort. Would like to get back there some day.
