Hmmm. Irish swans look remarkably like Mallard ducks... Love how they're reflected in the water though!

To answer solwemi: Foula and its inhabitants is the fictional subject of a British movie made by Michael Powell in 1937 called "The Edge of the World." Go to http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0028818/ for more information about the movie.
The movie contains stunning photography of the cliffs (more than 300M high). The DVD has extra material.

It is a joy, David, to be virtually exploring Ireland with you. I am delighted that you appreciate this isolated spot, green as green, Irish as Irish can be.
Kind regards,
Ian

The statue in front of this church is of St. Brigit (Breege, Bride), whose crozier staff stands for her heirarchical station in the church as monastic abbess. With St. Patrick, she is the patroness of Ireland. The liturgies served in this curch are all in gaelic Irish, the indiginous language of these islands, and to this day the first language before English of the local people.
