Hin Challam is one of the best dive sites in this area of Thailand. Unfortunately its isolated location has made it a bombing target used by the Royal Thai Navy and Air Force. There are large amounts of unexploded ordnance all around this site including large artillery shells and rockets.
The bombing has taken its toll on the island and the underwater world around it.
It is still a great dive and expect to see turtles, sharks, marble rays, barracuda, crocodile needle fish, clown fish and nudibranchs as well as other comon species. Plenty of Crown of Thorns unfortunately.
Another bonus is a small cave on the western side at about 11 mtrs.
Best dived November to March at high tide slacks.
