I am a professor of Mass Communication at Winona State University in southeastern Minnesota. I teach journalism, photojournalism, public relations, publication design, and media courses. In my classes, I suggest that pictures of people are almost always more interesting than pictures of things. My images on Panoramio and Google Earth explore the significance of place. I'm especially interested in studying and preserving places considered sacred by American Indians, the original people of North America.

If I have the time I go from county seat to county seat as I move from one place to another. I enjoy going places much more this way than getting on the big road and pushing just as hard as I can to get there.

I don't think you'd ever catch me trying to cross that!

No, I didn't. I'm not traveling alone this time, so I don't have total freedom to stop as much. When on my own, I get off the Interstate and plan my route to cruise through county seats. I may catch those two and a few others in Illinois on the way home.

Thanks.... I haven't been shooting Catholic Churches lately. But it is something I like to do... kind of recording them for history's sake. I'll get going on that again some day. Thanks for your kinds words.
