I am a professor of Mass Communication at Winona State University in southeastern Minnesota. I teach journalism, photojournalism, public relations, publication design, and media courses.
In my classes, I suggest that pictures of people are almost always more interesting than pictures of things. My images on Panoramio and Google Earth explore the significance of place. I'm especially interested in studying and preserving places considered sacred by American Indians, the original people of North America.

This was formerly a high school in Livingston. After a generous gift from a benefactor, it was turned into an art center with dance studios, art galleries, performance space and a community dark room.

If I have the time I go from county seat to county seat as I move from one place to another. I enjoy going places much more this way than getting on the big road and pushing just as hard as I can to get there.
