Hi Steve, aye star nights like this are one in a million up here in Northern England. Most of the time we have just too many low thick clouds full of rain, usually coming west from the Atlantic and so hitting me even more than David and when that is not the case then we still have loads of light pollution from towns or major road systems. There are places though that have less rain and light, the Lincolnshire east coast proved that the other week. We still have to go a long way and be pretty lucky to see sights like this however. Scotland would be good except for the 300 days a year of heavy rain too!!! This in no way, belittles the great shot you have here Steve which demonstrates not only your great skies but your talent and equipment too.
Jürgen-Grösel Thank you i was out teaching shot i came back with. thank you i am glad you like it as well. Steve

Thanks Paul and Giuseppe! (It takes me a LONG time to reply to comments these days!)
Haha - you snuck in a trip here this summer and didn't tell any of us??? ;)
Thanks so much Rossinka! The vapor effect is due to the long shutter speed.
Thank you kindly Faroma !
