Just curious, I live near here but have never been to this spot. Have you considered going into Glenn Onoko Estates towards the south, then walking the power lines NW to the gorge edge then heading straight north? It's in the bottom of your map picture.
And you seriously hiked over the pipeline? I run under that and have always thought about it :)

Simkins Dam, used by Simkins Paper Mill. Dam was removed in 2011.

Now that deconstruction of the wall at the west end of the highway is complete, the highway to nowhere is back in operation (July, 2011).

Nice picture. I miss the houses on Hoffman Street. I always thought it was neat to be able to have a house with several Amtrak trains running underneath it.

Thanks, Avagara, I saw the article in the Sun and I was wondering where the Lebow Clothing Factory was located. I'm going to have to get a closer look at that building sometime.
