My home for nearly 8 years was up on the top of the right-hand hill in this photo. It burned in the Tea House Fire about 5 weeks after I moved to Austin Texas.
I haven't been to Santa Barbara since. This photo is devastating and very difficult for me to even look at. My heart goes out to all those who were affected by this horrible catastrophe and I hope the landscape, and the lives disrupted, a speedy recovery.
I'm certain that those who lost their homes will be scarred by this tragedy for quite some time.
If karma does exist, and I've experienced too much to ignore the existence of at least some type of "Newtonian karma" (where every challenge seems to present an equal and opposite opportunity for benefit), then my hope is that beauty and serenity will soon befall those who've suffered from this terrible experience.

All the best,

Dense shades of black branches have a beauty of their own, all burned from the Tea Fire.
