SO, there's not much beach on the east end? We've been going to OIB for 20 years, but staying on the west end (Windjammer), but we were looking at a house on the east end this year. NO WONDER they're so "reasonably priced"! Is it worth renting on that side at all?
Development behind the Sand Dwellers II Condominiums. The Sand Dwellers are on 2nd Avenue, but they're now "beach front" properties because 1st Avenue has been lost to storms, and 2nd Avenue is partially lost.
I joke that the area behind the condos is being developed to be the next beach front properties in 20-30 years.
The eastern area of Ocean Isle has suffered extreme beach erosion from recent tropical storms. Several houses and about one-half mile of First Avenue have been lost.
These sand bags used to be covered with sand and grass, intended to be artificial dunes, but storms keep eroding them.

Notice how the the stilts have been "re-stilted" to prevent the house from collapsing onto the beach. It's a losing battle.

Excellent Shot, Great textures, perspective is great. Evokes a lot of wonder and you can almost smell the salt and feel the sea breeze
