iSky789's conversations

I have driven past this church many times and never thought it to be interesting. Then one Saturday evening I ventured about on foot, went under an arch and discovered this 'new' place.

But it also seemed strangely familiar, like I'd been here "before". Then I recalled I had 'been here' in a long-ago dream where this courtyard was part of an urban apartment complex next to a river and was also connected to a 'mall' filled with large furniture displays where sales persons were hurrying back and forth in aerial walkways- All so very odd !!

This park is more like a PRISON FARM. The city prefers to permit "freedom" only inside buildings & houses. This is a primary reason why G'boro earned the long standing knickname GreensBORING. Because it has little outdoor life, spontanaeity or imagination(obvious in it's Architectural monotony). After I took these photos it was reported to the police & now they follow my car around if I enter (or drive too near) the park again! Greensboro, NC is more like Russia .....than America!

Some locals call this the "Mexican flea market" but on a good Saturday or Sunday morning there are both buyers & sellers who're immigrants from around the world including various Latin American countries. Sometimes it almost resembles the Canal street market in New York City!!

"expected little in the way of material gains."

This could only be verified as true if the then occupant's opinions were solicited. But according to what I've heard, upward mobility was not possible since all wage & labor rates were 'fixed' citywide by a monopoly of business owners with an interest in preventing wage competition & labor cost increases. ("Free Market")

Thus a lack of hope for self-betterment was both practical & expected.
