If you look closely you can see that this bear is wearing a tracking collar and has a tag on his right ear. It would appear he is the subject of a research study. Park Rangers were hesitant to trap this bear and 3 others even though they were regularly wandering through campsites looking for food that careless campers may have left out. One bear was seen drinking a beer at one campsite.
