Cool 400 million years old rock formation. Just in Melbourne

After research had shown the where a number of Greater Gliders, Yellow Bellied Gliders and forest owls as the Powerful Owl in this part of forest it still got logged. Most trees are being felled, the undergrowth destroyed, and later in the season it will be burnt. Now on March 4th 2009 the forest on the right is being logged. This photo was taken just of Yalmy Road near Stoney Creek.

The logging of this area will have direct influence on this creek.

This beautifull river starts of as little stream, gully after gully fills this river with fresh water. Being here you would say there is a drought in Victoria. This picture was taken just outside a logging coupe, that is planned to be clearfelled in 2009 or 2010.

Dirt and dead plant material from this coupe will erode in to this beautifull waterhole and fill it up. Now it is about a meter and a half deep and 20 meters long.

Cool swimming or a nice place to find Platapus. It is a 3 hour hike down Toad Track nearby Goongerah. Nice and quite and nice Campsites available.

Beautiful peace of old growth forest with fern gully. Trees in this part can be as old as 300 years and the ferntrees can be twice that age. Several trees have a circumference of over 12 meters. The are now threatened to be clear felled in 2009 or 2010.

In this old growth forest many arboreal animals such as Greater Glider, Yellow Bellied Glider and endangered forest owls as Powerful Owl and Sooty Owl where observed in the nights after this photo was taken.
