On the old part of the Firecrest Trail the footpath enters a stand of tall firs, some of which were felled in the spring of 2009. This picture clearly shows how planting close encourages straight trunks and no side branches.
There are many paths in Wendover Woods, but the edge of the Chiltern Escarpment is steep. This footpath provides a quick route down from the main car park to the valley bottom, but only the fit (and the four legged) find going back up easy.
