great shot! when we used to raft the river thru the gorge, walking this pipe was the quickest way back to the dam/whirlpools, where we put in again and again on a good day. The 6 ft. diameter pipe had a white safety stripe on top where you stayed to keep your balance. There was even a pair of footbridges to bypass the giant breather vent about midway along the 1700-foot run. it was so much fun, but dangerous, too. thanks again for the shot.

...also just beyond the lights of el Cajon you can see the deadly Wildcat Canyon arm of the Pines Fire. Several people lost their lives trying to escape the Ramona/Barona Indian Reservation areas by driving down Wildcat Canyon road through the inferno- at about the same time this picture was taken.

It was an old army-surplus quonset hut and it was always hot and humid even with all the sliding windows open. They should have more showers available and less chemicals in the spa. Sorry- I disagree with locking showers, people lock themselves in there and waste tons of water/energy (the water is heated above its natural temp), often while others are waiting.

It's an antenna used for tracking commercial aircraft (dome-shape building). I believe the structure in the foreground was connected with the abandoned Air Force station just to the West of here.

I'm sad that this is gone now and I never had a chance to explore it.

Perhaps you are right. However, the address listed for Castalia Farms- 7101 Heywood rd.- is considerably west of here- in fact on the other side of Prairie road. My map or Google Maps must be wrong. sorry..
