This is a picture of Campo San Tomá facing the Scuola dei Calegheri e Zavatteri (shoemakers and cobblers) with the beautiful misericordia above the door. The blue awning on the far right is the shop of Svriso, one of the most exquisite silversmiths in Venice. I have suggested this correct location.

This is actually a nice picture from the Grand Canal of the church of Santi Geremia e Lucia located on the left bank at the corner of the Canale Cannaregio, so I have suggested this location. As the inscription visible in the picture attest, the body of St. Lucy (Santa Lucia) rests in this church to which she was moved when the church of Santa Lucia designed by Palladio was torn down in 1863 to make way for the railroad station, appropriately named Santa Lucia. Virgin and martyr, St. Lucy is the patron saint of eyesight, the blind, lucidity, and photographers and is one of the most venerated saints. She was originally from Syracuse on Sicily, but her body was stolen in 1039 and removed to Constantinople from where it was stolen by Dodge Dandolo (interestingly he was half blind) in 1204. She has been in Venice ever since, but, of course, Syracuse has been trying to get her back. The picture shows the church after the beautiful restoration in, I think, 2006.

Hallo.....

St. Ignatius Church in a view from Buena Vista park. This Jesuit church is the former chapel of the University of San Francisco on who's campus it is located. It is now a prominent parish in the city. One of San Francisco's most beautiful structures, it is a significant landmark in the western part of the city. Built between 1910 and 1914 and designed by Charles J. I. Devlin, the architecture is characteristic of "Jesuit Baroque," an eclectic but harmonious mix of Italian and Spanish Baroque and classical motifs. The church contains many significant works of art, including heroic Stations of the Cross in the form of 10' 5' oil paintings lining the the nave that were painted in Rome by Pietro Ridolfi and commissioned by the Jesuit order when the church was built. Masseria Bosco is the beautiful guest house on the 900 acre organic estate of Francesco De Padova, one of the regions most important producers of quality extra virgin olive oil. The masseria has elegantly furnished rooms, a gourmet dining room and a beautiful pool. The organic oils of De Padova are sold in the United States by Casa de Case of San Francisco.

Frantoio Olivestri is an artisanal producer of DOP extra virgin olive oil from the Colle Del Trasimeno. A two time gold medal winner, Olivestri sponsors the Festa Della Bruschetta - pictured here - each year at the end of October celebrating the new harvest. All are invited to taste the new oil and enjoy young wine. Olivestri's oils are sold in the United States by Casa de Case of San Francisco.

Thanks EVO for these information...

OK, this is the Rialto Bridge and you put it smack in the middle of P. San Marco. I used the Suggest a new postion feature to move it.

This is a picture of Casa Corner in Campo Santa Margherita (properly placed on the map, but not near La Giudecca as the title suggests). Wow! I have stayed in Santa Nargherita many time but never seen aqua alta there. Casa Corner is one of the most important building in the area, because its beautiful Gothic 15th C facade is a restoration of a 13th C original structure. The layout of the building is true to the original 13 C design, including he shops on the ground floor.
