nice photo of the hut. been going in here for bout 30 year's magic place last trip 05/05/11. tree's have been cut back round hut since photo plenty of fire wood! at time. clean water streams. good deep pool's by hut for swiming in the summer standard 4 bunker hut I think it's the last one left on this side of the range south of featherston

The distance from this top to Mt Taranaki (see the peak on the horizon?) is 1/3 the length of the entire N.I.
This gorge is passable only in dry season. Not recommended if ain't prepared or on your own.
