The following message is to be found in a bottle washed ashore by the storms of the Information ocean : "Dear Panoramio users and visitors I used to post my best travel pics on Panoramio from 2007 to 2014. Unfortunately, Google slowly choked this service to its demise. Panoramio is dead and posting is now useless. For this reason I discontinue posting anything. Nevertheless, I do not want to delete my account, so you'll still be able to enjoy its visit, at least I hope so."

Thank you for your visit and kind comment, Jürgen. You may also like the entire old town

Mississippi Delta American Indians once attempted to gain federal recognition of the "United Houma Nation". The BIA rejected the claim under the allegation there was no evidence of ties with the historic Houma tribe prior to 1830. Nowadays, "Houma" indians are still around, and the isle de Jean-Charles marina raises their flag, as an act of self-dentification.

The monument was commissioned in 1936 to celebrate the 100th anniversary of the victory of San Jacinto. This battle opposed the (english-speaking american colonists) Texan rebels to the Mexican army of General Santa Ana. It was a decisive Texan victory, Santa Ana was captured and Texas won its independence (1836-1845). Later Texas joined the USA in the wake of a second war with Mexico. I'll post a pic of the monument for you to see what it's look like.

Impressive haze of (pollution) smog over Houston!

Beau cadrage, et sans aucun touriste, ce qui est très rare :)

Cordialement. Betty
