The opening of the public library were planned to open in 1901 but due to the Anglo-Boer war [1899-1902] the official opening of the public library were in mid July 1902 and is still in use

This mosque were built in 1894 situated in Rudolph street,South End, now Walmer Blvd. The story i heard as a child is that the preacher were shot when doing the morning prayer over the loudspeakers every day at 6am and 6pm in the early 1950 or 1960's. At time South End were a very dense populated comunity

If driving along Port Elizabeth coastline one will spot a few of this blockhouses

I might be mistaken on this photo or location

Just for interest sake, this is the first houses built in Port Elizabeth in the very early 1800's
