whats up with all the people hating on these photos? there's nothing malicious or hateful about taking a picture. I think this is way more beautiful and human than taking photos of rich people.
When was the land cleared? first comment is 2007 which tells me you commenting in 2009 that its probably relevant to the time she visited Manila. Lets face it Manila has plenty of slums around so dont get offended over one photo if your so concerned go and rehouse an entire area instead of whining about someone posting a photograph that they took.
Jownbalawen, every picture is a shot of history at the time it was taken. And there is nothing wrong with posting old pictures on panoramio. If you want to highlight the changes since the picture was taken, just go there yourself and post a new one if you think this picture is misleading.

EVERY country in the world has slums. Even in wealthy countries, the wealth is not distributed equally and many are poor. There are many slums in the US. Too often, a human being is greedy and will not share. That is true on the entire planet.
This is why, when I see the photo, I do not judge Philippines. Instead, I have feelings in my heart for the people in the picture. Do you not have those same feelings? Or is your foolish pride more important to you than the people in the picture?
You must be a very insecure person, one who feels shame too easily, if you are angry about a simple photograph.
It is no secret what happens in this world. For example: many nations in Africa have civil war and mass starvation. The African dictators try to hide it, but in reality, it is no secret.
Phil. is a beautiful country with beautiful people. That is why tourists vist.
