I lived here in 1947 with my family - directly in front of the island on the coastal shore. I was 6 years old. My father was an RAF pilot at RAF Bishopscourt just behind the village. We used to go fishing off the island and I collected gull eggs from the island (broke in my pockets -smelly). Here I got to know my dad who was away at war until 1945, nearly drowned, learned to ride a bike and had so many happy days. There used to be a wrecked freighter in two pieces, just to the left of the island on the mainland - it may still be there for all I know. A beautiful place for a growing boy.
