Ahh, yes! The ubiquitous check points. Only in 1981-83 when I was there most of these were conducted and manned by the Nigerian National Police. Blue uniforms. This looks like the an army checkpoint.

This highway has changed much since I was there in 1981 - 83. At that time this was a two-lane road with very little beside it. Abuja was just being built. Zuma Rock was as impressive then as in this photo.

The photograph is mis-named. It isn't the 'Abuja House of Assembly', but the National Assembly, since it is where the national bi-cameral legislature (Senate and House of Representatives) sits.
