I remember this so well. My Grandparents lived in a tiny cottage over the road sadly now demolished. My Granddad had numerous clocks all set a fraction apart, mid-day and midnight was very noisy! Such happy memories.
The bridge crosses the River Frome and dates from the early C17. It was lengthened in late C17, C18 and C19. It is classed as an Ancient Scheduled monument.
This was school to my Mother,and junior school to me and my sisters.The front left was a large classroom.Off it to the rear was another room.Headmistress was to the right.Playground was to the front with a couple of full width steps,and a grassed area to the rear.
These are Manor Cottages,Freefolk. Building was completed in 1939,the previous cottages on this site being gradually demolished.Most of the occupants moved in the completed new cottages. The fewer old cottages were closer to the road. They were for estate,farm and mill workers,not almshouses. A post office was to the left of the central arch,replacing an old one.

Market cross, Early C14. Dressed stone, Square plinth of 4 steps. Moulded square base carrying stump of chamfered, broached octagonal shaft.
