Comcast building --- under construction. Retain this picture: the 19th and 21st centuries co-existing - The Arch St. Presbyterian Church - complimenting the Comcast building. The picture cries for its complement --- Comcast Completed. 04272009

pls. correct me if that position is not really exactly. We visted PHilli last summer in 2008 and i was not sure if i stood one Street nearer to Penns Landing.

Btw: in the news paper i read last summer that they liked to reconstruct the whole place. Anything done since???

hi fpapaycik - thanks a lot for that explanation. I made that shot when we just parked our car at 1st level. On the right at that intersection we had our hotel.

That area of Philadelphia is really a pretty nice area.

There is something about ravished snow that makes even a charming street look woebegone.

Again, one of the "littlest Streets" of Philadelphia, in center city, Midtown Village, probably between Walnut and Spruce, but typical of Quince. The fallen leaves and Ginko fruit obscure the narrowness of the street. The road way spans the distance from the far curb to the tree trunk. Quince, otherwise quiet and sedate, becomes dangerous in fall. For a few weeks, the leaves and fruit, turn the street into a skating rink. Walker beware!

This is 13th St between Chestnut and Walnut. Five years ago this was the tenderloin of Center City. It is now, officially, Midtown Village. Thirteenth St, once eschewed, is now, not urban, but urbane. The cuisine: Indian, Mexican (upscale), Mexican (upper scale), a Wine bar, a gelateria, a pizzareia. Half a block south, an overlooked, small cafe, lost in a very big bar-saloon.

Words cannot add to this photo. The symmetry, the sameness, the grey tones, still the city majestic. Broad Street impluvious --- makes the ordinary extra. (April 2009)
