Burachai Sonthayanon's conversations

This is a big gold-plated pagoda built by the people of Li and across Thailand, just finished around B.E. 2549 (2006). It was initiated by Kruba Chiyawongsa, the late abbot of Wat Phrabuddhapathhuaytom. Highly revered by the ethnic Karen in this town, all town people are strictly vegetarians as instructed by him. No meat nor alcoholic drink is allowed in the vicinity of the pagoda and the village. Foods sold in this town are all vegetarians. Once walking getting inside the surrounding rotunda, or circular terrace, sound of hundreds of tiny bells would cheer up one's mind.

On the side of the stairs, one can see blue water pipes of "mountain water supply" which draw water from small stream on the mountain so monks and villagers in the lower area can get their water supply.

This is a meditation center, not a tourist attraction location. Silence must be observed. The tower seen is a multipurpose building used for many functions, including morning and evening chants and meditations, ceremonies. The abbot also stays at the back of the first floor. Vegetarian meal only here. By the way, there is no Gasohol 95 fuel for cars sold in Phadi Chumphon district. You should have filled up your car 's gasosline tank before departing from Petchabun (intersection of hwy, 21 and 225).

On average, about 250-300 people go to listen to a dhamma discourse given by the center's head, the venerable "Luang Phor Pramote", each opening day. The center is opened to outside visitors from 0630-1000 a.m., usually on Thursday-Saturday, but also depending on external appointment of the center's head. Dhamma discourse is given in Thai. People bring foods to give to monks in the morning, afer which they join a potluck breakfast around 8 a.m..

This building is about 3 century old.

It is believed that this is the placed where remains of King Naresuan the Great, after royal cremation, were interred.

Have been there...

This Buddha image, sculpted from a 14 tonne green sand stone block in 2008 (B.E. 2551), was placed with Buddha 's relics on the top on April 19, 2009 (B.E. 2552). The image was commissioned with money donated by thousands of people across Thailand, including the people of Na Chaluai district.

The name in Pali of Uchupatipannanusorn means "the reminding monument of those who practiced right" i.e. monuments of the Arahants). In this stupa, relics of Buddha and many well-respected Buddhist monks (Arahants) whose bones turned into crystal are kept in glass containers and displayed in the upper room of this pagoda.
